Firstly, in the context of a civil or commercial transport aircraft, depending on the size, viscous or skin friction drag accounts for about 40-50% of the total drag under cruise conditions [1], and the payoff is generally high even with a small level of drag reduction.
The dimension of circular pit structure is lager than that of streak groove nearly two magnitude, so it possesses obvious superiority in processing, maintenance and practicability in engineering.
And it’s necessary to develop further researches related to engineering applications.
