Slight change in the composition of the cathode materials was observed which may lead to the gradual degradation of cell performance.
Various degradation mechanisms, however, may appear such as chemical instability between different components of cells and sintering of electrode materials especially during a long-range operation at high temperatures.
As for the cathode side, initial research efforts on SOFC cathode degradation has been made on chromium poisoning effect, which mainly comes from metal interconnect materials and leads to severe degradation of cells [6, 7].
