Introduction ZnO nanorods with a wide band gap of 3.37 eV and large exciton binding energy of 60 meV at room temperature are considered the most promising, highly sensitive materials for sensors because of their slow electron/hole recombination rate, high surface-to-volume ratio, faster response, higher optical gain, and specific crystalline orientation.
