These materials exhibit several problems of handling and fabrication, which can be overcome by mixing them with a suitable binder.
The phases Ca(H2PO4)2.H2O and TiO2 were observed after 10 and 15 hours, indicating that only a part of the initial materials have been transformed into CaTi4P6O24.
The dielectric constants and dielectric loss values showed substantial dielectric dispersion function of the starting materials and the milling time.

Er-doped materials are of particular importance in optical communication technology due to their excellent performance as gain media for amplifiers and lasers at the telecommunication wavelength of 1.5 mm.
Many combinations of Er-doped materials with optical gain have been demonstrated till now.
In recent years, Er-doped high index contrast materials have generated great interest and will allow strong confinement of light, ultra compact photonic devices and non-linear processes at moderate power levels.
