This studywas directed to apply the concept of functionally graded materials (FGM) and employed hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) to prepare HAp-zirconia FGM in order to maximise the properties of both components.
Conclusions HAp-TZP functionally graded materials were successfully prepared by HIPing at 1100 °C.
Acknowledgements Authors gratefully thank the Biomaterials Unit in University of New South Wales and Materials Division in Australia Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation for the assistance in the experimental work.
