Although the moisture of soil profile can be measured accurately by these methods, only simple point data can be acquired and substantial manpower and materials are required, which is costly and difficult to acquire large-scale soil moisture information efficiently.
Soil is a natural complex consisting of a variety of ingredients, whose spectrum is influenced by numerous factors, such as soil parent materials, organic matters and moisture, and changes dramatically due to different spatial and time conditions.
