To deposit Pt / or Ru precursors onto functionalized MWCNT, 0.1g of MWCNT was immersed in 2.0 mL of 0.05M H2PtCl6·6H2O (99.9% Alfa-Aesar)/or 2.0 mL of 0.05M RuCl3·6H2O (99% Alfa-Aesar) aqueous solution with 40 mL of ethylene glycol (99.8% Sigma-Aldrich). 0.4M NaBH4 was added drop by drop, to the mixtures with vigorous stirring for the complete reduction of Pt/or Ru form their respective metal salts.
These binding energy values are in good agreement with the literature data for Pt.
