Therefore, this paper analyses thermodynamic data, the mechanism of the La and Ce elements in the process of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy non-vacuum melting, and discuss the Impact of La and Ce on the alloy's microstructure and properties using as additive Elements.
There are three factors mainly: 1) the addition of La and Ce can eliminate pine-tree crystal, fine grain remarkably, as well as react with the low melting point metal to form insusible compound which disperses in the matrix to improve the tensile strength and micro-hardness of alloy; 2) the atom size of La and Ce is much more bigger than the atom size of Cu, as a result of which produce many vacancy during crystallization, these vacancy are benefit to the solution of Cr, Zr and reduction of big primary phase Cr, Zr and improves the tensile strength and elongation of alloy; 3) the effect of degassing, dedusting and edulcoration of La and Ce makes the elements such as P, Si, Pb and so on which are harmful to the electrical conductivity discharge with the dregs, therefore, the alloy matrix and grain boundaries are cleared and the electrical conductivity and elongation are increased.
