An amorphous mixture of fine particle size by ball-milling of certain amount of AlF3 and AlOOH was substituted for conventional α-Al2O3 as the starting materials.
Based on the analysis of XRD, the effect of each process can be concluded and a proper way to synthesize single phase YAG powders is determined finally. 2 Experimental Starting materials include yttria (Y2O3) (99.99%, Zibo Jiahua New Materials Resource Co.) , AlOOH (99.999%, prepared) and AlF3 (AR, Shanghai Sss Reagent Co.) .
