To investigate the characteristics of material removal mechanism in the continuous contour control grinding.
Introduction The scratching test using indenter is commonly employed as a tribological method to determine the dynamic surface mechanical properties such as scratch hardness, abrasion and wear resistance, coating-substrate adhesion properties, scratch friction, etc. of a range of workpiece materials, that were investigated by many researchers.

Metal materials especially steel or cast iron are used extensively in many types of construction such as buildings, bridges, cranes, vehicles and so on, so detection or prediction of metal failure is very important, but deformation of metal material often deliveries heat energy which can be detected by infrared imager.
Introduction It has been experimentally proved that in the process of deformation and failure, metal materials will deliver infrared information.
In the compression test, the material of specimen is cast iron, Fig. 2 is the infrared thermal images.
