Traditional core materials include honeycomb, foam, etc., among which honeycomb sandwich structure is the most common.
This kind of three-dimensional periodic structure is formed by folding flat materials according to the law.
A variety of materials can be used to prepare foldcore sandwich, such as: thin sheets of paper, metal, thermoplastic materials (PEEK, PET, etc.), Nomex paper, carbon fiber composite materials, aramid fiber composite materials, etc. [10].
There are many types of materials that can be stamped, and there is no requirement for the melting point.
However, this automated process is mainly suitable for metal materials with good ductility.

The Institute of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Kaiserslautern (WKK) has a long-time experience on ultrasonic welding of dissimilar materials, for example different kinds of CFRP, light metals, steels or even glasses and ceramics.
Therefore aircraft-related materials are joined by ultrasonic welding.
Fig. 2: Significant influencing parameters for ultrasonic metal welding [5] Ultrasonic torsion welding of aerospace materials The Institute of Materials Science and Engineering Kaiserslautern (WKK) has a broad experience in ultrasonic welding of dissimilar materials, for example metals to ceramics as well as light metals to carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic polymers.
Selected properties of the investigated materials are displayed in table 1 and 2.
