The Bragg wavelength is related to the refractive index of the material and the grating pitch.
When the sensor is bonded on or embedded in a material, the reflected wavelength will change when the grating undergoes thermal or mechanical strain.

Abstract.
CeO2 has been considered as one of the most lattice compatible and chemically stable materials for YBa2Cu3O7-x coated conductors.
However, direct deposition of YBCO films on these substrate materials causes poor superconducting properties due to a chemical reaction of the YBCO with metallic substrates.
