Composite Steel-timber Member Steel has the highest strength and the highest ductility of all the building materials, and it is also an isotropic material, meaning that its characteristics are constant throughout the material [4, 5].
Unlike steel, timber is an anisotropic material.
Steel materials, such as rolled H-shaped section steel and tubing rectangular section steel are used mainly in factories, warehouses and offices, it is easy to handle them as reusable members because they are manufactured in accordance with Japanese Industrial Standard [6].
The timber surface of the CSTS members is compatible with the wood finishing materials used for the walls and floor, creating a harmonious appearance.
