For decreasing self-weight, high-strength light aggregate concrete is used in Stolma continuous rigid-frame bridge in Norway at 184m of main span in 1998, the material characterize of which is as same as high strength normal concrete and self-weight is lighter[3][4].
Three kinds of concrete materials are used in superstructure of the continuous rigid-frame bridge with density gradient concrete as: high-strength light aggregate concrete LC(dry apparent density≤1950kg/m3) in mid-span, high-strength normal concrete C(dry apparent density≥2300kg/m3) in pier-beam consolidation, and fiber-reinforced cracking-resisted high-strength semi-lightweight concrete SC(dry apparent density 1950-2300kg/m3) between mid-span and pier-beam consolidation(about 1/4L).
