The improving in sealing material and configuration plays a crucial rule in sealing efficiency reinforcement.
Substance S1 is the passive element, material or process, substance S2 is a tool or substance which action on S1.
There are composite seals in materials and structures.

Generally speaking, the delivery channel of a hollow needle is etched through the bulk material using an anisotropic etching technique, such as DRIE.
Silicon might not be the best choice with respect to its material properties.
