Introduction
Crack propagation simulation is an important topic in many fields, for example, aeronautical engineering, material science, and geophysics.
The mechanical behavior of macro scale structure of metals materials depends strongly on evolution of the micro structure. n this paper, use a molecular MD and FE approach to study the evolution and propagation of cracks and fractures in Al materials The goals of this study are to establish the mechanical properties of cracks and fractures and to ascertain the evolvement mechanism of crack tip based on the results of simulation.
Computational Model Pure aluminum single crystal material was selected as research object, and this Al material by the far field stress is shown in Fig.1.A small area near the crack tip in the material was calculated by the molecular dynamics.
