KeyWords: Flexible die forming; Matrix PDC Bit; the First die; Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
Abstract: Flexible die forming has been the main technology in manufacturing matrix PDC bits presently, precision and efficiency of the first mould of bits have been the main effects to constraint the development and use of matrix PDC bits.
The basic process is as following: 1) bit designing; 2) machining the first die of the bit according to the designed bit; 3) Using silica-gel to fill the first die, producing a silica-gel bit; 4) fixing-up the silica-gel bits in a graphite-backing die and filling with ceramic-slurries, to get a graphite-die of the bit; 4) filling mixed alloy powder into the graphite-die, and fixing-up the steel bit-matrix, by the method of non-pressure immersion, a bit without PDC slices can be sintered. 5) Welding PDC slices in arranged-holes of the bit, a needed PDC bit could be got after cleaning.
