Besides, Tensile test bars were fabricated to a gauge length of 80 mm and a gauge diameter of 10 mm , and the tensile tests were carried out at a strain rate of 1.0 mm/ min in a materials test machine.

Introduction The numerical damage simulation with a proper material model describing all significant damage phenomena offers detailed damage information at least in the local level of the material point or Gauss-point of the FE-element.

The Ishai stress criterion [5] is more applicable to the optimization of concrete structures than von Mises stress criterion, because the Ishai stress can describe the features of different type materials, and the concrete materials have the property with different features in tension and compression.
The elasticity modulus of all artifical material elements is set to , where E = the elasticity modulus of the real material; and rw= the ratio of the weight of the elements with birth capability in the current design domain to that of the initial design domain with a fixed finite element mesh fully filled with material.
