Friction and wear behavior of Micro-arc Oxidation Ceramic Coating On Pure Magnesium Surfaces Fei Chen1, a, Hai Zhou1,b ,Fanxiu Lv2,c 1Enginerring Education Center, Beijing Institute of Petro-chemical Technology, Beijing 102617, China 2School of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Science and Technology, Beijing 100083, China achenfei@bipt.edu.cn, bzhouhai@bipt.edu.cn, cfxlu@mater.ustb.edu.cn Keywords: pure magnesium ; microarc oxidation; tribological behavior Abstract.
Microarc Oxidation is also called as micro-plasma oxidation or anodic spark deposition, and a new surface treatment technology developed recently, which has become a hotspot of international researches.
Ceramic has become the third generation of engineering materials to follow steel and aluminum for its special physical and chemical features, but its poor property in hardness and machinability limit its application.
Through microarc oxidation, in-situ-grown ceramic coating is directly formed on the surface of magnesium alloy, which makes the perfect combination of the second or third generation of engineering materials possible [3, 4].
