Preface
2013 International Conference on Environmental Biotechnology and Materials Engineering (EBME
2013) was held on August 23-25, 2013 in Tianjin, China.
The main theme of EBME 2013 was the application of novel materials and advanced technologies in the field of environmental pollution control, especially in water environment protection and wastewater treatment.
These novel materials include nano-scale and amorphous materials, membrane separation materials, photocatalysts and their carriers, advanced oxidant, polymer materials, and so on.
These materials and technologies play important roles in protecting ecological environment, improving human settlement, preventing and controlling water pollution, and assuring drinking water safety.
Supervisor, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture Xiaoling Lei, Professor, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing Academy of Science and Technology Xing Li, Professor, Ph.D.

This combination is extremely effective for
particle-based simulation of fibrous materials with fine and disordered microstructure described by
short-range interactions.
Therefore, all presented microplane-based approaches can be used for nonlinear materials as well.
