AMC 2012 is held with the aim of being a platform for reviewing the latest research and technology in the area of Advanced Materials. It also to bring together researchers, scientists, engineers and scholar students to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas and results in all aspects of Advanced Material Research and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. Latest advances and innovation in the area of advanced material will be discussed. A total of more than 100 scientific papers in various field of Advanced Materials have been received and accepted for presentation in this conference.
There are continuous demands for high performance materials with enhanced properties. In the development of these materials and their processing methods, physical and numerical simulations have important roles to play. By using best current knowledge and modern facilities, these simulation techniques can enable the rapid and economic evaluation and prediction of high temperature processes and applications. The papers deal extensively with physical and numerical simulation, the modeling of processes, as well as recent advances in the processing of various materials, e.g., steels, light metals, composites, etc.

This special volume of 24 peer reviewed contributions cover up-to-date research results on "Structural and Chemical Characterization of Metals Alloys and Compounds". The structural and chemical characterization of different materials such as metals, alloys, ceramics, steels, composites, polymeric compounds, welding, superalloys, intermetallic compounds, and nanomaterials are included. They were prepared with different techniques. Some important topics addressed were the analytical techniques focused on the microstructural, chemical, optical, electronic, magnetic and mechanical properties of materials.
Recrystallization and grain growth are mechanisms that alter the microstructure without necessarily altering the phase. They are typically driven by high internal elastic and surface energies though sometimes other volumetric energy terms appear. The topic is important to materials engineers and scientists and geologists alike. The former typically aim to exert control over the phenomena for technological and economic benefit while the latter often seek in these mechanisms the answers to questions regarding events long gone. This collection of peer-reviewed papers brings together the most up-to-date knowledge in this field.
The 220 papers are grouped into the following chapters:
Chapter 1: Environmental Science and Engineering;
Chapter 2: Material Science and Materials Processing;
Chapter 3: General Mechanical Engineering;
Chapter 4: Automation, Control, Information and Computer Technologies;
Chapter 5: Management and Industrial Engineering.
