Scientific Conference of Microscopy Society Malaysia is a series of conference which is held yearly. The 24th Scientific Conference of Microscopy Society Malaysia (SCMSM 2015) has taken place on 2-4 December, 2015 at Avillion Hotel, Malacca, Malaysia. SCMSM is a reference conference associated with microscopy and microanalysis used in materials science, and various fields of engineering and chemistry.
The conference gathers unpublished works related with microscopic studies in various research areas including Advanced Materials, Catalysts, Coatings, Composites, Corrosion and Degradation, Crystallography, Electrochemistry, Electronic Materials, Energy, Green Materials, Glasses and Ceramics, Membrane Technology, Mineralogy, Metallurgy, Polymeric materials, Smart Materials, Structural Materials, Thin Films, Waste Management, Nanomaterials.
This special volume covers topics such as novel synthesis, processing and applications of advanced materials, micro and nano-structures, oxides and magnetic materials, nanomaterials, semiconductors, microwave dielectric, multiferroics, computational materials science, modeling and simulation of advanced materials and technology such as cryogenics and smart material for health care.
This special collection brings together the latest developments in the science and technology of electroceramics. It focuses upon contributing to the exchange of Electroceramics know-how; both scientific and industrial. The major topics covered by this special collection includes dielectric and ferroelectric ceramics, lead-free ferroelectric ceramics, energy related ceramics, thin film and nanocrystal, semiconductor, magnetic, optical, and sensor ceramics. All papers collected were reviewed.
This special issue on the ‘Functional Nanomaterials for Energy and Environmental Applications’ aims to assess the current status and to identify future priority and directions in research, design and applications for energy add environment. This special issue will provide an opportunity and platform to promote mutual interaction, information and collaborations on advanced functional materials.
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
The book comprises 98 peer-reviewed papers which provide excellent up-to-date coverage of the subject.
In this special issue, we have several papers that are addressing the current status of the fundamental issues related to synthesis and the diverse applications of semiconducting nanowires and nanotubes. The papers related to nanocrystalline polymer materials presented in chapter IV discusses the different aspects associated with the synthesis and properties of polymer materials and provides good scope for researchers to carry out further research on polymer materials. Demonstration about the usage of specific nanocrystalline materials for efficient drug delivery and antimicrobial activities are being discussed in chapter V under the title nanostructured materials for biological applications and will be an impetus for carrying out research in this area. Finally, in the chapter VI papers related to sensors and devices using nanostructured materials give an overview about the fabrication of devices like, field effect transistors, gas sensors and solar cells using nanomaterials.
The volume covers a wide range of materials research and maintains a good balance of theoretical and applied work. In keeping with the present trend the number of papers in Nanomaterials in the highest with a good number in Electronic Materials and Energy Storage Materials. Reflecting the varied interests of the Department there are quality papers on Metallurgical themes such as Metal Casting, Mechanical Processing and Materials Joining.
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS).
The papers cover topics such as electron, holography, tomography, HREM, STEM, EBSD, ED and precession techniques - as well as their application to materials science and related disciplines.
The proceedings are broadly divided into six sections; the first being a collection of keynote lectures, followed by papers classified under Deformation, Deformation and Annealing, Techniques, Annealing and Materials.
