The special issue entitled “Transfer Phenomena in Fluid and Heat Flows XIII” of Defect and Diffusion Forum continues a series of themed volumes and presents a collection of works associated with heat transfer and fluid flow phenomena. These topics can be understood in a wider sense as classical diffusion-related topics. The continuous need for improved machines and higher efficiencies and more detailed and accurate theoretical modeling approaches makes it necessary to showcase the latest trends on a regular basis with small intervals between the different volumes in this topical series.
The world population keeps increasing, and this growth has enormously impacted the environment negatively. Researchers all over the world have continually seeking different ways by which the negative impact of the global increasing population can be minimized including developing new technologies to accommodate the high population. The use of plastic has increased, wastes are taking land spaces, which could be used for other purposes such as building and farming, water bodies are been polluted leading to poor access to portable water, and food shortage has been experienced in many communities. The research presented in this book cut across Machine Design, Technologies of Environmental Engineering and Bioprocessing, Materials and Technologies in Construction, Information and Communication Technologies, and Engineering and Project Management. These researches if implemented would go a long way in providing sustainable and lasting solutions to these challenges.
This volume contains papers that reflect the last research results in the area of building materials, natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites, modern materials and technologies in dye-sensitized solar cells production and chemical technologies in biodiesel production, natural gas processing, and environmental engineering. The collection was compiled from papers presented at the International UNIMAS Engineering Conference on Advanced Materials (ENCON 2018, Kuching, Malaysia, on September 12-14, 2018) and will be useful and interesting for many specialists from the mentioned areas of engineering sciences.
