Key Engineering Materials and Computer Science
Description:
The International Conference on Key Engineering Materials and Computer Science (KEMCS 2011), held in Dalian, China, was the first conference to be dedicated to issues related to key engineering materials and computer science. A major goal and feature of KEMCS 2011 was to bring together academics, engineers and industrial researchers in order to exchange and share their experiences and research results touching most aspects of key engineering materials and computer science, and to discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. This work clearly makes a valuable contribution to the field.

Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView:
The proceedings of the inaugural August 2011 conference gathers 120 papers on materials engineering, manufacturing processes, material testing, design techniques, and microcontrollers. Four papers from the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology report on growth of zinc oxide nanowires, aluminum doped zinc oxide thin film deposition, polycrystalline flakes, and zinc oxide coatings on silicon oxide spheres. A pair of papers from Gunma University investigate changes in wall thickness due to pipe compression and the effect of tool shape on sheet metal thickness during drawing and ironing. Other topics include atomistic simulation of heat transport in carbon nanotubes, nanoscale particle enhanced gold plating, an imaging system for detecting defects on navel oranges, and oil shale extraction. B&w images are provided.
