Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: This dense two-volume set collects the 350 papers accepted to the November 2010 conference on materials and manufacturing processes. The Chinese contributors address numerical control systems, geometric dimensioning, machine tool elements, process automation, cost estimation, metrology, and testing. The studies investigate the effects of hot rolling and high rate cooling on rolled hull plate, evaluate the temperature within a combined plasma arc, and analyze the combustion of mixed diesel-biodiesel oil. In five separate papers, a group of researchers from Tianjin Normal University characterize the dielectric properties of barium calcium titanate ceramics and barium zirconate titanate powders prepared by the sol-gel method. Other topics include the influence of process parameters on laser tube bending, finite element analysis of a heavy duty truck carriage, removal of heavy metal ions from water, a strip winding machine for manufacturing prestressed cold forging dies, and electrospun nanofibers for medical applications.
