Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: MSIT 2011 (International Conference on Materials Science and Information Technology) took place in Singapore, September 2011. This presentation of the proceedings comprises eight volumes, which hold many hundreds of selected, peer reviewed papers. Organization is according to broad themes, but there seem to be some errors in placement; for example, a paper on urban traffic signal control optimization and another on wind speed forecast for wind farms appear under the heading "biomedical manufacturing." Coverage encompasses materials behavior; surface, subsurface, and interface phenomena; coatings and surfaces; composite materials; materials forming; machining; nanomaterials and nanomanufacturing; biomedical manufacturing; environmentally sustainable manufacturing processes; and modeling, analysis, and simulation of manufacturing processes, among other topics. A keyword index and author list are provided in the eighth volume.
