Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: This is a selection of peer-reviewed papers from the German-Russian Young Scientists Conference on Renewable Energy, Biotechnology and Nanotechnology in Tomsk, Russia in May 2014. The aim of the conference was to gather both young and senior scientists from different fields who were interlinked to an environmental background. Chapter 1, "Nanomaterials and Technologies," contains papers on the production of iron nanopowder, heart monitoring using nanosensors, hydrogen accumulation dynamics in a nanocrystalline alloy, and the application of nanoparticles in the synthesis of biologically active ureas. Chapter 2, "Surface and Coating Materials Technologies and Engineering," consists of papers on the effect of ion implantation on mechanical stress, the influence of microarc oxidation on surface roughness, effects of high-powered pulsed ion beams on coating deposition, the use of a magnetoplasma accelerator on boron carbide coating formation, and heat and mass transfer in wet fibroporous material. Papers in Chapter 3, "Renewable Energy Materials Application, Thermal Materials Engineering, Biomaterials," cover topics of autonomous solar-wind power forecasting systems, biodiesel production from sunflower oil, and phenazine derivatives from Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
