Progress in Sol-Gel Production

Progress in Sol-Gel Production

Description:

Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS).
This book presents contributions covering the more recent applications of Sol-Gel science. Ceramics and films produced from gels were among the first applications developed by early sol-gel researchers. The possibility of tailoring the structure, and controlling particle growth, has permitted ever more advanced materials to be obtained. Several other potential applications were foreseen fifteen to twenty year ago, but their realization became possible only after extensive research on precursors had enabled progress towards the preparation of new pre-forms.

Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView: Chemists and materials scientists review recent applications of sol-gel processes and material. They cover silicate consolidation for stone, mechanical properties of aerogels, nano-structured sonogels, nanoceramics by sol-gel processes, how sol-gel can contribute to optical devices, mesoporous thin films as an example of pore engineered material, inorganic dispersed-phase composites by sol-gel processing, the sol-gel production of bioceramics, a sol-gel process for proton exchange membranes, and release properties and acute biosecurity determination of collagen-polyvinylpyrrolidone loaded in ordered mesoporous silica.
