Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView:
This proceedings volume collects selected, peer-reviewed papers from an October 2012 conference held in South Africa. The papers concentrate on the advancement of fundamental knowledge and the development of materials and industrial processes for semi-solid manufacturing of high performance metal components. Work is grouped in sections on microstructure and properties, process development, modeling and simulation, rheology, material development and alloy design, and industrial applications. Some specific topics include industrial applications of rheoforming technology in China, manufacturing of composite and hybrid materials by semi-solid forming, and squeeze flow of semi-solid slurries. Other subjects include numerical simulation on rheo-diecasting of magnesium matrix composites, high-temperature flow behavior of semi-solid steel alloys, and production of titanium alloy components by semi-solid forming. The book includes b&w images.
