Abstract:

In this paper, the authors present the development of software written in Visual C++ , which is used to test the cushioning characteristics of packaging materials. The computer software is featured by the accurate detection of instantaneous velocity as the shock starts; the reliable acquisition of shock signals; the non-distortions of signals by using the FIR digital filter for acceleration signals; the good display of the various curves by a linear or logarithm approach; the multiple curve-fitting options offered; the fully-automatic nomination and management of files without manually handling; the view of a diagram in which the multiple curves are plotted in terms of the linear or logarithm coordinates, and automatically storing data even if test procedure is intermitted.
