Abstract: Nowadays, more and more DLP projectors are used as light sources in some kind of applications for they are programmable. DLP projectors are designed to match human eyes, therefore when we see projected images or videos through our eyes, our perception would match the source files very well. However, in case we use high-speed cameras, color of captured images may deviate a lot from our expectations. In this paper, we explain the difference at first. Then, a method to recover illumination in consecutively captured images is proposed. Application, in which DLP projectors are used as light sources and cameras are used as sensors, may benefit from this work.

Abstract: Living culture resource is very important among kinds of human resources, so preserving it has great significance in the development and heritage of culture. This paper compared and simulated several existing compression technologies of stereoscopic video which have been widely used in video coding. The experiment results showed that using H.264 for monocular data compression of each eye is most suitable for recording stereoscopic video of living culture resource. This research will benefit the culture protection and technology development in our country.

Abstract: This paper presents the thoughts about application of saliency map to the video objective quality evaluation system. It computes the SMSE and SPSNR values as the objective assessment scores according to the saliency map, and compares with conditional objective evaluation methods as PSNR and MSE. Experimental results demonstrate that this method can well fit the subjective assessment results.

Abstract: The lost of a block in an intra frame will damage the video quality extremely. In this paper, an efficient concealment for intra frame is proposed based on the spatial and temporal domain interpolation. For spatial domain concealment, the weighted interpolation (WI) and texture prediction (TP) are adopted according to the blocks surrounding the damaged macroblock (MB). If the blocks surrounding the damaged MB are all available, the TP method will be used. Otherwise the WI method will be used. For temporal domain, motion vector copy (MVC) is adopted for the interpolation. Simulation results have shown that the proposed method can significantly improve the quality of the video.

Abstract: An approach to improve the regions of interesting (ROIs) selection accuracy automatically for medical images is proposed. The aim of the study is to select the most interesting regions of image features that good for diffuse objects detection or classification. We use the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to obtain physicians high-level diagnosis vectors and are clustered using the well-known K-Means clustering algorithm. The system also automatically extracts low-level image features for improving to detect liver diseases from ultrasound images. The weights of low-level features are adaptively updated according the feature variances in the class. Finally, the high-level diagnosis decision is made based on the high-level diagnosis vectors for the top K near neighbors from the medical experts classified database. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the system.

Abstract: Multirate and DFT based fast parallel algorithm for the 2-D inverse discrete Gabor transform (IDGT) is presented. A 2-D synthesis filterbank is designed for the 2-D IDGT. The parallel channels in the filterbank have a unified structure and can apply the 2-D fast inverse discrete Fourier transform (IFFT) algorithm to reduce the computational load. The computational complexity of each parallel channel is very low and is independent of the oversampling rate. Thus, the proposed parallel algorithm is attractive for real time image processing.

Abstract: Mobile devices such as smartphones have been used widely used nowadays for their portability, flexibility and functionality. Embedded operating systems have provided powerful support to these devices. More complex applications can be developed and used for them. However, mobile devices are still resource limited and this is a problem for many programs such as 3D picture display programs. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to optimize the performance of 3D picture processing programs. The process of 3D picture processing was analyzed and scratchpads were used as the on-chip buffer for it. The experimental results showed that our approach could achieve its design target.

Abstract: In this paper, we use variational methods to investigate the solutions of impulsive differential equations with mixed boundary conditions. The conditions for the existence of solution are established. The main results are also demonstrated with examples.
