New Possibility of Visualization in Mechanical Engineering

Abstract:

3D digitalization is still a very expensive and tedious process to transfer shapes of real object into a digital computer form. New devices are becoming more effective and more precise, but their price declines very slowly. This article offers perspective into the problems of 3D digitalization using a sensing device of favorable price, namely Kinect a motion game controller. This alternative offers scans of components surfaces that are from the viewpoint of precision and quality comparable with much more expensive devices.
