Abstract: Palm-print has a wide range of applications in personal identification, disease diagnosis, and athletes selection. This paper focuses on automatic schizophrenia prediction based on the anomalies in the handprints of patients with schizophrenia. The application is an image processing system, which works on the basis of the relationship between palm print pattern and schizophrenia. The images of human palm form input to the system. Then, system applies digital image processing and analysis techniques on input images to identify certain features in the image. Based on the certain features captured, it is possible to identify a high-risk group for schizophrenia. Present scientific techniques have no way of stopping critical illness from occurring and the increase in death rate will continue. Early diagnosis and early treatment are essential on in dealing with those illnesses. If more relationship between palm print pattern and disease can be ascertained, the proposed system can be very useful to human being to get indication of disease in advance.

Abstract: In traditional way, the segmentation of image is conducted by simple technology of image processing, which cannot be operated automatically. In this paper, we present a kind of classification method to find the boundary area to segment character image. Referring to sample points and sample areas, the essential segmentation information is extracted. By merging different formats of image transformation, including rotation, erosion and dilation, more features are used to train and test the segmentation model. Parameter tuning is also proposed to optimize the model for promotion. By the means of cross validation, the basic training model and parameter tuning are integrated in iteration way. The comparison results show that the best precision and recall can up to 97.84% in precision and 94.09% in recall.

Abstract: Fingerprint image feature extraction is a critical step to fingerprint recognition system, which studies topological structure, mathematical model and extraction algorithm of fingerprint feature. This paper presents system design and realization of feature extraction algorithm for fingerprint image. On the basis of fingerprint skeleton image, feature points including ending points, bifurcation points and singular points are extracted at first. Then false feature points are detected and eliminated by the violent changes of ambient orientation field. True feature points are marked at last. Test result shows that the method presented has good accuracy, quick speed and strong robustness for realtime application.

Abstract: Fingerprint image preprocessing technology has been widely used with the development of intelligent identity recognition system, which studies fingerprint image restoration, enhancement and thinning based on digital image processing technology. This paper presents system design and realization of preprocessing technology for fingerprint image. Fingerprint image has restoration processing by adopting image filed calculation, image background segmentation, image equalization, image convergence and image smoothing algorithm in order at first. Then Gabor wavelet algorithm is used to enhance the contrast of fingerprint image. Image thinning algorithm is carried out to extract the skeleton of fingerprint image at last. Test result shows that the method presented has good accuracy, quick speed and strong robustness for realtime application.

Abstract: For remote sensing imagery, spatial relationships are extracted by segmentation and classification. Unlike traditional vector relationships, spatial relationship reasoning is equivalent to constraint satisfaction problems in the image process. Based on 9-intersect model, the paper discuss spatial topological relationship between image objects to provide a theoretical and technical support for low levels of image segmentation, high-level analysis.

Abstract: Pixel level image fusion algorithm is one of the basic algorithms in image fusion, which is mainly divided into time domain and frequency domain algorithm. The weighted average algorithm and PCA (principal component analysis) are popular algorithms in time domain. Pyramid algorithm and wavelet algorithm are usually used to fuse two or multiple images in frequency domain. In this paper, pixel level image fusion algorithm was summarized, including of operation, characteristics and application etc. MATLAB simulation shows that effect of frequency domain algorithm is better than time domain algorithm. Evaluation criteria mainly refer to entropy, cross entropy, the mean and standard deviation etc. Evaluation standard is the reference of fusion effects, different evaluation criteria could be selected according to different fused image and different fusion purpose.

Abstract: Color is one of the important characteristics in visual perception. But color histograms used commonly loses spatial distribution information while obtains the statistical feature of image color. This paper provides an algorithm, the region partitioning algorithm based on concentric circles, that synthesizes the color, texture and space information to extract features of image. It evidently improves the precision of retrieval and achieve better performance.

Abstract: The extraction of water boundary is the basis for measurement of the watershed area and the extraction of other water parameters, which has an important impact on calculation accuracy of hydrological analysis. With the rapid development of remote sensing technology, the extraction of water system and basin boundary is getting more and more importance and the extraction methods have also made a new progress. This paper takes the acquisitive TM image of Dianchi Lake of 1992. Firstly the image is enhanced by Tassled Cap Transformation, and then band ratio (b3/b1). By setting appropriate threshold to the enhanced image, we can extract the water boundary more quickly and effectively, and have achieved good results.

Abstract: Shape from shading (SFS) is a classical and important problem in the domain of computer vision. The first paper of the authors gives a new image irradiance equation for perspective SFS method to reconstruct the hybrid surfaces that have both diffuse reflection and specular reflection. This paper presents a new approach to compute the viscosity solution of the resulting Hamilton- Jacobi (H-J) equation considering the boundary conditions. The approach is based on 2D central Hamiltonian and iterative sweeping method. Experiments are performed on three images and the results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract: Recognition and verification systems plays very critical role in the area of information security as they are very essential to user certification. In resent years, off-line signature recognition and verification receiving renewed interest and only one of several techniques used to verify the identities of individuals, also that one of the biometric techniques. Signatures offer a secure means for confirmation and authorization in legal documents. Thus, nowadays the signature identification and verification becomes an indispensable part for including embedded signatures of automating the rapid processing of documents. Researchers have been proposed various approaches for handwritten signature recognition and verification in the past years. This paper presents a survey for non-western handwritten signature based offline signature verification and identification. In this area, the accuracy rates obtained so far from the available systems is not sufficiently high, and more researches on off-line signature verification as well as off-line signature identification are required.
