Research on Computers Applied to Investigating Criminal Cases on the Crime Scene

Abstract:

It is a good practice to make use of computers to handle the criminal cases involving computers. In some cases it is a must and it is the only way to handle criminal cases. When handling such cases, the first and key step is to conduct the live forensics on computer crime scene in order to successfully solve a crime. During conducting the live forensics, it is important to follow the appropriate procedure and rules. Besides, the investigator should make a concrete analysis of each specific question. The paper focuses on the specific steps and activities which are considered as the appropriate procedure and rules. This paper covers the live forensics from the arrival at the computer crime scene to the seizure of the storage media. Real cases are also illustrated in this article to explain how the computer is applied to investigating criminal cases.
