Design of Transverse Boom-Type Roadheader Remote Control System

Article Preview

Abstract:

The roadheader remote control system is proposed to protect operator away from the dust and the danger on working site, improve the operator's labor environment, reduce personal injury accidents, and enhance the security of mining operations. The cutting head and spade board position of transverse boom-type roadheader were analyzed. The mathematical models of cutting head vertical swing, cutting head gyration swing and spade board vertical swing were established. Geometric relationship between the angle and the stroke of hydraulic cylinder of cutting head and spade board were calculated. Finally, based on programmable logic controller (PLC) and industrial personal computer (IPC), the remote control system was designed and the automatic cutting method was proposed. The roadheader remote control system had been applied successfully in EBH132 roadheader. The system significantly enhances the efficiency and security of the main production.
