Abstract: The Cantabro durability test is usually used for open graded asphalt mixtures and has seen little use with dense graded mixtures. This paper presents durability data from the Cantabro test for Palm oil fuel ash (POFA) modified dense graded asphaltic concrete AC 14. The nature and amount of filler in an asphaltic concrete mixes significantly affect its design and performance. POFA is an ash obtained from the burning of waste material generated from the production of crude palm oil which is of high quantity in Malaysia. A number of trial mixes were prepared using the Marshall Mix design procedure with 5% POFA and 1% Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) as filler materials to arrive at asphalt concrete mixtures that fulfil the Marshall criteria. Cantabro durability test was used to measure the durability of the asphaltic concrete. The results show that Marshall stability, flow, stiffness and cantabro loss values shows general improvement for the POFA modified asphalt compared to the control specimens.

Abstract: Magnetorheological rubber material is a kind of composite material of magneto elastic coupling with multi functions, which is composed of magnetic particles and the mixed rubber films with the magnetic properties of the material, but because of its mechanical properties has limited practical use, and nylon cloth which has the advantages of high strength, dimensional stability, can be the ideal framework of magnetorheological rubber. The results show that for the magnetorheological rubber made from the NR/SBR blend, the tensile strength of the magnetorheological rubber with the cord fabric can greatly improve, the tensile strength can reach 17.8MPa, but also can improve the shear modulus of magnetorheological rubber and zero field storage shear modulus.

Abstract: According to the detection method of "Polycarboxylates high performance water reducing admixture"(JG/T223-2007), the different concrete mix ratio with different binder systems were designed to test the air-entraining content and compressive strength ratio for 3days of the HSP-V and PCA-II polycarboxylate superplasticizer. The results show that the mineral admixtures can reduce the air-entraining content of the HSP-V and PCA-II polycarboxylate superplasticizer, and lead to the compressive strength ratio for 3 days improved. Therefore mineral admixture on polycarboxylate superplasticizer should be fully considered, in order to adapt to the needs of the practical engineering.

Abstract: The unique atrium space design brings different visual perception to people, and rational atrium structure has a good influence on natural lighting and energy consumption. The lighting atrium has been widely used in public buildings. This paper aims to optimize the atrium design of public buildings. Some factors such as atrium aspect ratio, light transmission coefficient of the glass and atrium shape etc, were probed in through numerical simulation, which analyzes lighting influence of various lighting atrium forms. On this basis, this paper draws some conclusions, such as daylight factor of atrium space distribution characteristics and its relevance of atrium space geometry, proposes some optimization strategies of architectural lighting atrium, try to provide some guidance in the atrium application of public buildings.

Abstract: Building Information Model (BIM) was initially proposed by Autodesk in 2002. Currently, BIM has been widely recognized in the industry worldwide, baced on its great value. The concept of BIM has been gradually well-known in construction industry in China, and it’s a good prospect for development and application of BIM. But its application and promotion is still in start-up phase in China. It should be actively promoted in whole society. It was suggested in the paper: application and promotion of BIM technology should be implemented step by step, and precursed to apply in construction phase, ultimately achieved overall industrial application. This paper analyzed characteristics and advantages of application and promotion of BIM technology in construction phase, and discussed implementation sschemes and steps. Finally, it proposed BIM should be grandly guided to achieve comprehensive application in project’s whole-life.

Abstract: Coupling Loss Factor (CLF) is a parameter describing building sound loss, which can be stand for energy loss in the process of crossing the structure. A low value of CLF refers to the high insulation performance of building member. Therefore, reducing the coupling loss is a favorable way to improve the sound insulation. For the purpose of exploring the relationship between the properties of building materials and CLF, the commonly used building materials are selected to analyze. It is indicated that the properties of building material have obvious effects on the CLF. As the consequence, some predictions and analysis are carried out in this paper.

Abstract: In this paper, a theoretical model to evaluate impact sound transmission through a homogeneous wall is proposed. The model which is based on the Statistical Energy Analysis framework exhibits a system with room-wall-room. For the purpose to explore the mechanism of impact sound transmission through a wall, the impact sound reduction index between two rooms are predicted. Meanwhile, the variation of impact sound reduction index with the walls properties are also taken into account. The results reveal that the density, elastic modulus and thickness of a homogeneous wall have diverse effects on its impact sound insulation and can be chosen adequately to achieve ideal insulation values. It provides an approach to optimize impact sound insulating properties of the walls.

Abstract: Green building or sustainable building and BIM are advancing on the construction industry faster than most practitioners’ anticipation around globe today. BIM adoption in construction has changed the existing construction industry practices to achieve better results with higher quality green buildings that perform at sustainable facilities and reduced costs, BIM provides the opportunity to realize numerous benefits throughout the project conception, design, construction and post occupancy phases of a green building facility, and BIM is also establishing a measurement standard for what is considered a green building. This paper represents the BIM applications in the U.S. green building management development with respect to various aspects of practice in construction.

Abstract: Using the method of complex analysis, the study investigates the circular orifice problem for 2k periodic radial cracks through constructing conformal mapping, and provides an analytical solution for the crack-tip stress intensity factor (SIF). From this we have simulated the circular orifice problems of cross-shaped cracks, symmetrical eight-cracks, single cracks, symmetrical double-cracks, and symmetrical four-cracks.
