Abstract: The deterministic approach (philosophy) considers natural and civilizational phenomena (architecture) as a result of complex interactions and relations between passive and active actors. This view of architecture has a very close relation to digital methods. It has developed from automatized processes of design through parametric approach to the generative and emergent design. Architecture emerges as a non-linear interaction of endogenous and exogenous forces. It is technically impossible to predict this process (to plan or sketch it). It is, on the other hand possible to simulate it in digital as well as physical world. According to paradigm of emergent design, material and fabrication tool may be considered to be agents of the design process. A long-term goal of the research activities in the collaboration between Academy of Performing Arts, Faculty of Architecture at Slovak University of Technology and an independent platform Rese arch with the KUKA robotic arm is to create an emergent fabrication tool (process).

Abstract: Nowadays, strong influence of technology development in all areas of science and arts (architecture) can be observed. Therefore, it is not surprising that some of the contemporary topics in architectural discourse (particularly in the context of cutting edge technologies) are closely related to technology. For example, new mixed reality devices coming to the commercial market belong to the area of research that is working with mixed realities and virtual spaces. Advantage of this technology is that it enables more dynamic and realistic perception of the computer designed world. Recent development and better accessibility of MR hardware has brought higher attention of designers to this problematic. Together with technology of games engines, the new powerful designing tool is emerging. The existence of this technology has an ability to transform design processes in the field of architecture.

Abstract: Is the window just one of the most commonplace elements of buildings Is it a simple void or aperture in the external wall It has to provide optical connection between interior and exterior admits light and air; offer a view, ensuring mental comfort in the interior. However, it is the most exposed element of the building envelope. Construction and building physic properties of windows significantly impact formation of optimal indoor climate and they are crucially involved in the energy loss of the object. Nevertheless, architectural expression is one of the most important functions of the window. As history of architecture shows, window is one of the key architectural components of a building.

Abstract: By concentrating of suitable structure o heterogeneous functions into the hybrid residential complex we obtain a homogeneous whole. The combination of various architectural programs and functions in residential environment is creating a hybrid urban environment, which should bring higher quality of life for people in cities.

Abstract: Since the period of application curtain wall on skeleton buildings, small single–storey buildings are the great topic for architects. By various means architects have effort to create an impression of floating roof structure, or an illusion of levitating roof over the country. The effect of transparent space, overlapping interior and exterior, is possible to achieve by use of various structural schemes and materials of support structure. Nowadays single-storey transparent buildings are regarded as a phenomenon, which presents progress in architecture from the point of dematerialization of support structures and details of secondary transparent structures. Glass is in contemporary transparent curtain walls used not only as a material of the building skin, but also as the material of the support structure in various structural elements within hierarchy of the load bearing structure. Flat glass sheets forming the building skin could be within the suitable chosen shape of enclosed envelope also load bearing structure.

Abstract: Design and implementation of surface treatments of individual bounding surfaces of the Interior should be in symbiosis. The interior is perceived as a functional unit, in which the coating of walls, ceiling and floors together with the furniture and other accessories create a particular style of the enclosed space. Surface treatments of facades give the building a unique architectural expression. A large group of facade finish represents mounted cladding. In practice they are widely used and are part of almost every object. They participate in the aesthetic appeal of the external environment and buildings from the architecture point. Cladding as part of the external walls affects its structural and physical properties and because of its coverage opacity they allow to use new, highly effective thermal insulation of the external walls.

Abstract: Healthy person does not often realize its certainty when he moves around in the flat and makes activities related to running of the household. Persons on wheelchairs, moving with crooks or walking stick, or otherwise handicapped, are in more difficult situation. Therefore barrier-free environment in flats defined for persons with limited ability of movement and orientation is very important. This group of people faces the biggest problem with barrier-free transfer when working in the kitchen, as well as when moving around in the bathroom or WC. In order to better understand the wheelchair person we have to take into consideration how this person moves around in the kitchen, how he gets from and on the wheelchair in the bathroom and WC. He movers either alone or with his assistant, therefore the project engineer shall also consider the handling space for another person when designing the size of floor area. Persons with handicap must deal with safe movement around their flat on everyday basis.
