Abstract: In order to eliminate this wood handicap comparing to other material bases, chiefly PVC, which are used for window production, it is inevitable to know the thermal transmittance values of wood grown in Slovakia region, eventually in Czech Republic, to be able to modify the calculated or measured values of window thermal transmittance. Solution for the research problem is documented by the spruce or fir wood example, which are used the most in window production in SR.

Abstract: A strategy for the recovery of the building stock in Slovakia imposes obligations and proposals to provide additional investment for renovation with a view to 2020, aiming at further reduction of energy consumption of buildings and reducing the consumption of natural fuel resources. Maintenance of existing External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) remains without system solutions, using chemical methods for disposal of microorganisms. Environmental impacts at a price of current sociological needs are not known and detected. Principles of sustainability must be regarded as the starting point when applying the concept of ETICS maintenance.

Abstract: The paper has the ambition to point out the validation of conceptual and a strategic reasoning in the design of solution of “green façade” with external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). The text deals with selected information derived from long-term research on contamination of ETICS by biological materials (mostly unicellular organisms - algae). The paper concludes with a draft of decision-making process.

Abstract: This paper is focused on new seasonal energy storage technology. World demands for energy are increasing at present, but the resources of fuel are limited. There is a prediction, that they will become rare and more expensive in subsequent years. The technology, which can contribute to increasing the efficiency of energy consumption, is thermal energy storage. The role of such energy storage systems is to accumulate heat, balancing temperature differences and achievement the most effective use of the collected energy. Thermal energy storage plays an important role in increasing the using of renewable energy.

Abstract: The article is focused on the theoretical calculation of thermal transmittance for new plastic window frame. Constant making the thermos-technical requirements stricter lays higher demands on improvement of window frames which the weakest element from the point of heat engineering. One important part of the window, which is needed to be improved, is a frame profile. Assessment of newly proposed window profile system is realised based on currently effective technical norms and regulations. The main aim of the theoretical assessment and computer simulation is to define the coefficient of passage of heat of the frame construction of a new plastic profile system.

Abstract: Energy efficiency of buildings is one of the basic requirements of current architectural engineering. The new recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) calls for all new buildings to be nearly zero energy buildings by the end of 2020. To achieve this target is quite challenging. The article deals with the design of a shading system, which consists of lamination made from photovoltaic modules and phase change materials. The lamination is composed of thin but durable photovoltaic modules, which are located on the profile formed from aluminum in which the phase change material is mounted. The shading system is a part of the building facade from the exterior side. In this article there are presented results of simulation of a single zone which was set with a shading system using two different phase change materials.

Abstract: The article includes an overview of the effectiveness of different generations of photovoltaic cells, the temperature dependence of the electrical efficiency and methods of integration into the building envelope. Furthermore, the article focuses on experimental and simulation of proven methods to reduce the operating temperature of photovoltaic cells.

Abstract: The building of Faculty of Architecture SUT in Bratislava can be considered by its character and complex design as one of mature works of architect prof. Emil Belluš, DrSc. It is proofed not only by architectonic and spatial concept, but also overall technical facilities, details design and used material scale and their technical and handcrafted quality. The building was constructed in years 1950–1952. The window structures of building are not only the distinguished structural elements but also they are phraseology of the architectural work. They belong to relevant façade structural elements while, at the same time, they determine format, aesthetic impression and façade value. Due to extensive window defects which, in many cases, caused as much as a function loss, it was necessary to change them. The requirements of specialists for listed buildings comprised the preservation of material, facial, colour and function design with the aim of energy saving.

Abstract: Comparison of basic thermal insulation properties of triple glazing and quadruple glazing. It also compares the heat transfer coefficient of glazing, transmittance of solar radiation, the weight of glass and other basic properties of glazing. It deals with the effect of number and position of low-emission coating the quadruple glazing on the heat transfer coefficient. Reducing weight of quadruple glazing using thin heat-strengthened glass and dimensional constraints.
