Analysis of Water Permeability and Retention and Mechanical Properties of the Drainage Base Course with Asphalt Treated Gravels

Article Preview

Abstract:

Through experiments and numerical analysis of water permeability and mechanical properties of the ATPB drainage layer, this research finds out the regular influential patterns of void ratio on water permeability and mechanical properties of the ATPB drainage layer. Based on other constraints, if only the void ratio can be limited within a reasonable range when design the drainage layer, it can ensure a good performance of water permeability and mechanical stability of the drainage layer with stable asphalt gravels. Through tests and analysis of ATPB mechanical properties in different soaking conditions, this research finds out the solutions to the decreasing bearing capacity of the structure caused by the over-large void ratio.
