Abstract: Currently, dangerous reservoirs in Yunnan province are experience one serious common issue: leakage in dam body and dam foundation. To explore solutions for this issue, this study investigated the effects of the application grouting technology on dam seepage and reinforcement using case study of Montenegro reservoir project. Based on numerical simulation (STAB2005 Lizheng software), we can get results after having reinforcement, the dam saturation line was reduced after the reinforcement and the anti-seepage ability was improved significantly in both body and foundation of the dam. Furthermore, numerous successful case studies were reported using grouting technology. In conclusion, grouting technology is highly recommended as a construction method to solve leaking problems in reservoir engineering.

Abstract: While considering various structural and material requirements, 3D models of ship chambers in the ship lock structure using finite element modeling (FEM) software ANSYS. By using FEM software to set up the contacting sections between the base plate, refilled soils and foundation, analyses were done to caluculate the forces exerted on the structure of the ship chamber. After checking the reasonability of the calculated results, discussions were made on the calculation process to allow for future empirical calculations.

Abstract: Recently sluice safety evaluation in China was mainly based on the conventional experienced methods, in which the index was in qualitative analysis and the weight of the index was measured irrationally. Sluice real behavior was influenced by many factors, and some are fuzzy and uncertain. Through matter-element analysis , a hierarchy, multi-index and information matter-element system was set up. Based on the fuzzy mathematics and extension theory , the fuzzy extension model of sluice safety assessment was established. The comprehensive weight method base on game theory was applied in the model. It has been used to describe sluice safety behavior dynamically and quantitatively in real sluice project. Moreover , it can also be applied in the assessment of other hydraulic structures.

Abstract: The recent evolution of the North Branch of Changjiang Estuary is seriously affect the development of social economy in the region of Changjiang Estuary, regulation project of North Branch is extremely urgent. Now, the Channel-narrowing project in local implementation of North branch is already implemented. For study the effect of Channel-narrowing project on the hydrodynamic environment of the North Branch, a 2-D vertical average tidal current numerical model of Yangtze Estuary was set up with flexible irregular triangular grid to simulate the hydrodynamic before and after the Channel-narrowing Project in the North Branch. The following conclusions are drawn from the study. The results show that, the characteristics of tidal current in North Branches are not change a lot; the flood volume has been greatly decreased by the width of the North branch in the estuary area being narrowed down; the high tidal level lowers after the project. On the other hand, the low water level became increase and decrease, but the change of relative amplitude is not obvious. To sum up, the narrow project works to the advantage of the hydrodynamic environment in North branch.

Abstract: In this paper, high-piled wharf is reinforced with a view to studying how the wharf dredging renovation affects its structure. As regarding the problem that the original balance of the bank slope is destroyed after upgrading, two retrofit schemes that set sheet pile wall at anterior wharf and low-piled caps at surcharge area are conducted to analyze the bank slope deformation and the inter force before and after wharf retrofit by means of three-dimensional finite element models. The analysis shows that for the scheme of setting sheet pile wall at front wharf, the inter force of the anterior pile station reduced while that of the post pile station near the stack area remains large. For the other scheme, the bending moment of the pile that closes to stack area significantly decreases after setting low pile caps. If both schemes are adopted coherently, the reinforcement effects to the anterior and post pile stations would be improved greatly.

Abstract: Base on the design of seepage control, the three-dimensional non-steady saturated - unsaturated seepage finite element analysis program CNPM3D is used to establish the three-dimentional finite element seepage model of junction area during operating period. The seepage field of dam site area is studied under the different anti-seepage curtain arrangement scheme. Specifically, the seepage gradient and the seepage discharge of the panel, major material zone, foundation curtains and two sides abutment curtains are analyzed to evaluate the stability of the major district of dam area, in order to provide suggestions for choosing the seepage control standard in the next deepen design stage. The calculation results show that the panel and the impervious curtain anti-seepage effect is remarkable.Impervious curtain can greatly reduce the total seepage flow of the dam and its foundation. However the curtain deepened to 1Lu has little effect on seepage discharge. It is showed that the seepage prevention standards of 3 lu should be proposed in the deepen design stage for both security and economic benefit. The achievement and experience of this seepage prevention design should be taken into consideration for other similar projects.

Abstract: The studies have been made on the layout and navigation condition at the outlet section of Water Diversion Navigation Project from Yangtze River to Hanjiang River based on the method with integration of models such as stream physics, remote controlled self-propelled ship, stream mathematics and ship manipulation movement mathematics. At first, it is introduced design proposal of navigation project for entrance of lower reach under the Gaoshibei ship lock section and merging estuary with Hanjiang estuary and then the detail analysis is made on various factors of the design proposal affecting the navigation conditions. Finally, it suggested optimizing layout satisfactory to the safety navigation through improvement of navigation conditions with adopted many engineering measures to the deficiency of design proposal on the navigation conditions.

Abstract: The reservoir filling arising out of the water conservancy and hydropower engineering development inundated a lot of fertile farmlands and good soils. Especially it was mountainous with scarce land in the southwest area, and the contradiction between man and land was prominent. The soil-based resettlement mode only possessed the textual meaning, rather than the practical operational meaning. It is necessary to adopt the urbanization and industrialization resettlement, so as to enable the resettlement to move out as well as dwell securely and become rich step by step. Through the field research, this paper summarizes the type during the urbanization process of reservoir resettlement in Guizhou Province at the present stage, discovers the existing difficulties and problems in the resettlement, and puts forward the relevant countermeasures and suggestions.

Abstract: The construction of a series of docks in Nansha harbor would lead to the increase of the sediment silting in harbor basin, and the forecast for the amount of the sediment silting is a necessary work to do. The numerical model through verification shows that the source of suspended sediment is from the south of the harbor area, the thickness of sediment silting along the harbor has the characteristic ‘low in the north and high in the south’, and the sediment silting in phase IandII basin will be declined after construction. Those characteristics will be a good suggestion for us to design the planned harbor.

Abstract: Wudongde canyon where the hydropower station will be built is deeply cut by the river with the height of more than 800m. Three type of rocks (sedimentary, metamorphic and volcanic rocks) outcrop at the project area. The complexity of the lithology of the Mesoproterozoic Huili Group Luoxue Formation (the limestone, marble, dolomite, marble lithification dolomite, quartzite and phyllite parallel to each other) combined with the complexity metamorphic process (including marble lithification, dolomization and sericitization) and the multiphase tectonic movement and multiphase transgressive period and regressive period formed the Wudongde canyon unique hydro-geological structures. The complexity of the geological conditions (complex lithology, tectonic structures, Neotectonics movement) combined with the dry-hot canyon meteorological conditions formed the complexity of the Wudongde caynon Karst features. The different karst types have developed such as the karst fissures, karst holes, horizontal caves and karst oblique caves. Based on the detailed geological data, the karst and hydro-geology features and the karst controlling factors have been systematically analyzed, meanwhile the karst influence on the project have been evaluated and the suggested measures have been taken to avoid the disadvantage conditions. The experience of Wudongde Hydropower station karst research can be as reference for other similar projects.
