Investigating Potential Tourists' Perception of Haze Pollution's Impacts on Tourism Experience as to Beijing, China

Article Preview

Abstract:

Haze pollution might have a great effect on a destination’s image and might make the entire tourism industry fall into decay. In China, particularly in Beijing, pollution is extremely serious. Based on a study of Beijing using questionnaires for potential tourists, perceived health risks, perceived impacts on the tourism experience, and attitudes about the impacts of haze were explored. The results indicate that haze pollution has a considerable perceived impact on travel, and there are obvious differences among travel contents/elements and even tourism market segments. Due to its perceived impacts, haze pollution will be taken into account in tourists’ decision-making processes, causing a portion of potential tourists to cancel tourism plans.
