Abstract: Rapid development of computer technologies brings possibility to exploitpowerful computers for reliability analysis of (civil) engineering structuresunder consideration of random properties of various quantities influencingtheir resulting reliabilities. Aim of this paper is to outline possibility ofutilization of computer simulation Monte Carlo to predict reliability of areinforced concrete retaining wall from the viewpoint of possible loss ofstability. One of advantages of this approach is possibility to quantifyprobability of failure allowing structural optimization leading to design ofmore effective structures.

Abstract: The Passive Planning and Design is used in the new campus of the first senior middle school in Maoming city, Guangdong province, China. Oriented by regional climate, the design has beneficially explored the way of implementation of green campus in Subtropical Region. During the whole design process, the Computer Simulation Environment technology is combined with the regular design methods, cooperating with multi professional fields such as planning, architecture, landscape and pyrology. After building energy consumption calculation, the goal of energy conservation and environmental protection is achieved.

Abstract: Thispaper presents an experimental study to strengthen an existing bridge usingpre-stressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP) materials. The method using pre-stressed hybrid fiber reinforced polymer(HFRP) to strengthened structural members is an emerging pre-stressed strengtheningtechnology. In this study, experimental data selected from result of staticloading test conducted to hollow slabs with CFRP/GFRP has been compared with specimenswithout strengthening. Test results showed that the strengthening methoddeveloped in this study could effectively reduce the stress in hollow slab, improving the flexural rigidity and inhibiting the concrete from fracture.

Abstract: The lithology of rock mass isnon-homogeneity,anisotropy, andexists size effect. The mechanical parameters of rock mass gotten by engineeringapproaches cannot reflect these properties. Therefore, a newmethod of determining the mechanical parameters of jointed rock mass isproposed: gneiss in Shuichang open-pit mine was selected as a case, thefracture system of the rock mass was measured and analyzed by non-contactmeasuring system of 3GSM and probabilisticmethod, the probability distributions of geometry parameters were analyzed and a 3Djoint geometry model was made by using the program of 3D network modeling.Cubes with different sizes were selected to be tested by tri-axial compressionof numerical simulation with 3DEC based on the 3D network model of joints, thus, the REV and its mechanical parameters were determined, which providedcredible parameters for slope stability analysis.

Abstract: The calculation of the projectilepenetration into target has always been a hot and difficult issue in thescholastic circles. In recent years, a new numerical method, XFEM, has been emerged basedon the conventional finite element method (CFEM), so that the crack propagationproblem has been developed by leaps and bounds. Based on XFEM, the researchfocuses on the crack propagation problem in the process of projectilepenetration into target. In addition, the crack propagation mechanism and itsinfluence of material mechanical properties in the process of projectilepenetration into target are analyzed.

Abstract: Accordingto the status of seriously early disease, the diseases investigation and causesanalysis were performed on bridge deck link slabs. The results show thattransverse cracks and pot holes are the main forms of diseases of bridge decklink slabs. The main reason of diseases for bridge deck link slabs is the lightstructure, mechanical complex, unclearly to the performance under force, anddifficult to guarantee the quality of construction. According to the causes ofdiseases, the linear elastic analysis was performed on bridge deck link slabunder loading. The formula of maximum tensile stress of concrete in bridge decklink slab is derived. The main factors affecting the internal force of bridgedeck link slab were analyzed. The suitable structure of bridge deck link slabsis proposed.

Abstract: This study focus on the deformation law of longitudinal seam between shield tunnel segments, under the load of the overburden layer after assembling. Finite element method is used to calculate the seam opening angle between two adjacent segments under different circumstances, including different joint stiffness, different cap segment locations and different load of cross-section. The result shows that the stiffness of the joints will affect the seam opening amount within a certain range, the cap segment position leaves limited impact on the inner and outer seams opening amount, while different cross-section will have a significant different effect on them.

Abstract: Compare the dynamic characteristics and earthquake response between double thin-wall pier and single column pier, also study influence of prestress to seismic response or seismic performance evaluation. The results showed that the performance of double thin-wall pier is more reasonable than that of single column pier, the influence of prestress to seismic response is too small, but is important to seismic performance evaluation which should be considered, and the force of internal and external limb should be reasonable to avoid large difference between the two limbs in serviceability state.
