Exploration on the Integration of Residential Communities and Agricultural Landscapes in Xi’an

Abstract:

With the urbanization increasingly advancing at high speed, a growing number of farmlands have been turned into building lands, which leads the urban-rural conflicts more and more evident than before. However, integrating residential landscapes design with ecological agriculture could relieve the contradiction of booming population and decreasing farmlands, improve the modern lifestyle and afford more optimized land using pattern under the circumstance of greatly advocating resource-saving society. Taking Xi’an area as an example, and based on the green ecological design, social benefits and the harmony between social development and our living environment, the paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of modern environmental design, and explores the comprehensive strategies of agricultural landscape design in residential communities which could meet the people’s demands in many aspects such as usage, entertainment and esthetics.
