The Prelimary Study of the Welds between Mg and Al by Friction Stir Welding

Article Preview

Abstract:

The dissimilar welds between magnesium alloy and aluminum alloy formed by friction stir welding has been investigated. The results show that the cavity and tunnel defect often appear in the welds, and the formation of fragile intermetallic compounds which exhibit virtually no ductility and lower strength cause the poor property of the welds during FSW.
