Abstract: The article deals with current problems of warranty costs in automotive applications. The two-dimensional warranty widely used in automotive industry is presented. The relationship between warranty costs and product reliability is also presented. The article analyses problems with estimation of a number of failure occurrence over a warranty period and estimation of costs related to repair failures. The mathematical model enables to predict warranty costs for two-dimensional warranty is presented. The article also deals with problems of estimation of an instant of warranty period expiration and demonstrates its estimation on an example of a vehicle.

Abstract: The role of fire control system is to orient the gun at proper position to hit the moving target accurately. Aim of this paper is to study the different approaches and to analyze the gun ammunition characteristics to hit the aerial target. The described approaches would help in the selection of killing range. These approaches have been implemented with the experimental data generated for guns. The experimental data has been analyzed for suitability of particular technique under different circumstances. This work contributes in prediction of firing angle that includes ballistic offset and lead angle above the angle of sight to engage a moving target from static tank.

Abstract: More than 3 million kilometers of high pressure liquid and gas pipelines are installed all over the world.Usually steel is the safest means to transport large quantities of oil and oil related products and natural gas however, just like any other technical component, pipelines also deteriorate with time, result of which, flaws appear and they grows until the pipeline fails. That is why Pipeline operators worldwide maintain the good health of buried cross-country pipelines with a combination of good quality external coating and cathodic protection. Beside this various other techniques like cleaning and debris removal by scrapper pigging at intervals depending upon the life of pipeline and the products being transported through the same are used. Use of corrosion inhibitors and internal coating is also done to protect the internal surface from corrosion. It is of greatest importance to ensure the safety, efficiency, environmental integrity and regulatory compliance of the worldwide pipeline infrastructure. Achieving this objective entails the need for effective inspection technologies, incorporating the accuracy and reliability required for optimized maintenance strategies. Intelligent pigs are used for inline inspection of buried pipelines to monitor their thorough health, assess the risks associated with their operation, pilferage checking and cracks etc. These IPIGS are capable of detecting metal loss upto 5-10 percent of wall thickness on inner as well as external surfaces of pipeline. IPIGS based on ultrasonic and eddy current sensors are capable of detecting cracks also.[10] On the basis of the wall thickness loss and the intensity of defects, pipeline risk assessment is done and preventive and corrective measures are planned. This paper presents the technical details of instrumented pig with its advantages and disadvantages over conventional methods of pipeline protection and inspection. It also elaborates the concept of multiple technology intelligent pig and scope for future research on intelligent pigging. (abstract)

Abstract: The traditional detection methods of competition risk can only detect partly risk. This paper puts forward a risk detection that expresses different hopping by four values, and makes Karnaugh map based on four values signal act for logic circuit. This method can detect all competition risks through analysis.

Abstract: With the development of power system, the rapid and accurate detection of harmonic and reactive currents is premise of reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression. With MATLAB software, a research on simulation of harmonic detection and improvement method based on instantaneous reactive power theory is carried out. The result indicates that the harmonic detection improvement method of ¡P—¡qbased on instantaneous reactive power theory have a faster response time and better real-time.

Abstract: The Harris corner detection algorithm is widely applied in image mosaic, which is simple and stable. However, the algorithm has a disadvantage that it obtains a lot of false corners when there exist some noise in an image. An improved Harris corner detection algorithm is proposed in this paper. The new algorithm reduces the noise impact greatly. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm not only reduces false corner points greatly, but also retain the majority of true corners. As a result, it improves the detection accuracy and reduces the chance of error matching in image registration.

Abstract: A color indicator detection algorithm under different illumination conditions is proposed. First, based on the similarity between consecutive video frames in channel L of Lab color space, background image can be determined. Differentiation of a frame and the background can identify the motion region, and thus the search area for the color indicator is greatly reduced. Second, the convex hull of motion region is specified and sampling is taken within it. By assigning the weight, seeds can be determined using clustering method. Finally, region growing is implemented by applying Bayesian decision with minimal error ratio. The method is applicable to more different conditions and produces better results compared with traditional color-threshold vector method.

Abstract: Vibration platform remote monitoring testing system, drived by tri-linear motor, makes use of PID Control Toolkit in LabVIEW to control the linear motor. It also uses a DAQ card named PCI 6229 from NI Company to capture digital signal from the motor encoder and collect the analog signals from the force sensor as well as output the driver signal of motor. Data Socket technology was used to achieve the remote motor control and data transmission.
