Abstract: Multi-hole orifices (MOs) is a promising throttle device applying in refrigeration system or plant. The geometric description of multi-hole orifices (MOs) is more complex than single-hole orifices (SOs). The flow control characteristics and structural system of MOs need to be investigated. This paper presents a comprehensive geometric description for MOs by a series of throttle experiments. This paper first defines a comprehensive set of geometric architectures involving orifice arrangement criteria and three geometric parameters, then investigates the effect of various geometric features on the pressure loss characteristics of MOs by throttle tests , finally develops practical models to evaluate the pressure loss coefficient of MOs. The presented structural system of MOs including orifice arrangement criteria, geometric parameters and throttle models, provides convenient conditions for structural design and manufacturing for MOs.

Abstract: The powder chamber of cannon gun tube was an important indicator which affected gun performance. The accuracy of fire, precision and the other technical indexes were inevitably affected by the chamber geometry parameters directly or indirectly. So the detection of cannon gun tube was an important part in the whole gun detection technology. This paper introduced the structure and the measuring principle about diameter automatic measurement device of cannon gun tube and made a prototype. Then the experimental verification was carried out. The experimental results showed that the automatic measuring device had the advantages of simple principle, convenient operation, high precision, and had a certain popularization value in use.

Abstract: Mountain highways are traffic accident-prone locations. Such factors as vehicle speed and trajectory hold a considerable proportion in the accidents. Highway line features is the basis to determine vehicle speed. In this paper, the running speed of vehicles on mountain highways is taken as the main object of study and the observation and survey data on vehicles deceleration behaviors before they enter a curve on the curved sections of mountain highways are taken as the reference object to establish the drivers driving speed control model on the horizontal curve sections of mountain highways, and an example is used to conduct comparative validation on the driving deceleration model. Calculation results show that the deceleration control model established in this paper is feasible and effective, can better simulate vehicles deceleration behaviors when they pass through speed limit signs or the sections with road surface deceleration signs and provides a new theoretical method and guiding basis for the line features design, traffic safety analysis and evaluation and traffic safety improvements of mountain highways.

Abstract: Multiscale design dealing with a 2-scale material and product system is implemented by employing the probabilistic distribution matching probabilistic analytical target cascading method (PATC-PCE) in this paper. PATC-PCE allows design autonomy at each scale subsystem by formulating the multiscale design system as a multilevel design structure. The probabilistic distribution matching strategy in PATC-PCE can quantify the stochastic interrelated responses accurately enough. Comparative study on a multiscale bracket design problem shows that the results obtained by our method are very close to the benchmark values. PATC-PCE is demonstrated to be highly effective and applicable on multi-scale design.

Abstract: Nowadays, consumers have become more selective in choosing products not only deciding based on its functionality and its value but also on its aesthetic and emotional value. Aesthetic and emotional values have thus become important aspects in the success of a product in a competitive market. Consequently, recognizing the primary parameters used to generate combinative product shape which has the ability to evoke a particular emotion should be given strong consideration. This paper describes the application of robust design approach which allows the designer to determine the optimal design parameters to obtain form impression evoked by a product shape feature. A Taguchi’s orthogonal array method is applied to design the experiment and is analyzed to obtain the optimal parameters for each factor. ANOVA is then employed to identify the most significant factors. A Taguchi’s L18 orthogonal array was adopted for an experiment on the design of an office chair. The case study contains six three-level factors, and 18 different combinative design samples created from shape parameters. The results of the experiment shows that it is possible to create a design support system that can facilitates the designer in the creative process by suggesting shape parameters relating to a specific form impression.

Abstract: The magnetic particles coated with the carbon are used in the magneto-rheological fluids (MRFs) and the coat-like structure slow down the sedimentation of MRFs. Meanwhile, after the performance tests, the new MRF has the low viscosity and good ability of the recovery. These characters have more advantages in the application fields. Based on the prepared MRF, a shearing model that considers the interaction force between the adjacent chains was presented. By applying the proposed model, some conclusions are reached. The volume ratio of the magnetic particles has an important effect on the yield stress of the MRFs. The shear strain where the maximum shear stress happened has something to do with the volume ratio of the magnetic particles.

Abstract: The author analyzed the effect of lateral confinement under the pre-applied force in prestressed concrete structure and analyzed the influence of lateral confinement under the equivalent load of pre-applied force and rotation angle by the matrix deflection method in prestressed frame beam, at the same time the formula for the influence modulus of lateral confinement in prestressed concrete structure was proposed. Based on the analysis of practical projects, it’s indicated that the modulus of lateral restraint decreased with the increase of pre-applied force, and this kind of influence was small, and was the advantageous influence. Thereby provided basis for rational design of lateral confinement for prestressed concrete structure.

Abstract: To carry out product virtual design for diesel engine combustion system, the top-down method is used. The diesel engine combustion system is designed and each part is modeled in Pro/E. Pro/E is a solid modeler and this offers considerable advantage for solid model creation. Normally, the geometry is first sketched in 2-D and then extruded in the third direction to generate a 3-D model. In Pro/E, it is important to first create the base geometry. The base geometry is that captures the design intent of the part to be modeled. This base geometry can be created using either the EXTRUDE or the REVOLVE options. Once this base geometry has been created, additional features like holes, rounds, chamfers, fillets, ribs, etc can be added in the finishing stages of the part creation. The center of the bowl does not coincide with the center of the cylinder due to the presence of valve pockets. The obvious advantage of this configuration is that is gives the true geometry of the piston and the connecting rod ports can be accommodated when the piston is at the top dead center.

Abstract: No matter what managerial strategy is adopted, the final goal of an enterprise is to improve its business performance and competition. As a company-wide incremental process of innovation, Continuous Improvement has become an important strategy for an enterprise to maintain manufacturing competition. In this paper, the performance of CI in Chinese enterprises will be evaluated based on the international investigation of CI. And the paper has a comparative analysis of the performances of CI in Chinese enterprises and foreign enterprises. Then the paper chooses the enterprises with good performance and uses Benchmarking to research the methods of CI. Finally the paper sums the suggestions of the performance of CI in Chinese enterprises. These suggestions provide reference to carry out CI in enterprises.

Abstract: In today's world, the core of sustainable development is considered to be 3R, which is REDUCE, RECYCLE and REUSE. The implementation of the principle of sustainability is exactly the same with the ancient Chinese created conception and design. This thesis provides Chinese modern sustainable design with a feasible principle and method from traditional Chinese ecological concept of creation, and is a constructive inspiration to the modern architectural design. It encouraged the life of mankind to develop towards a scientific, civilized and healthy way, achieved the aesthetic concept of architectural design based on the harmonious coexistence of human and nature, and prevent modern architectural design from being over materialized as well as the further deterioration of the natural ecological environment.
