An Algorithm to Estimate Daily Collectible Beam Radiation on South-North Oriented Solar Tube Collectors

Article Preview

Abstract:

It is essential to estimate the daily collectible radiation on collectors to predict the thermal performance of a solar system consisting of solar tube collectors. However, the calculation of daily collectible radiation actually received by a solar tube array is extremely complex. In this work, an algorithm for estimating daily beam radiation received by south-north oriented solar tube collectors (SNSTC) for the case of and is suggested based on monthly horizontal radiation and correlations suggested by Collares-Pereiraβ and Rabl. Comparisons of results between expected from the algorithm and those obtained by direct numerical calculations show that the proposed algorithm could accurately estimate the annual beam radiation actually received by a SNSTC.
