Abstract: The algorithm of derivative dynamic time warping (DDTW) can overcome the shortcoming of dynamic time warping (DTW) and the computational complexity has not increased. In this paper, the algorithm of DDTW was applied to Chinese connected word speech recognition. For each isolated word, as an independent reference template and as basic recognition unit, there was an independent reference template to correspond; the matching between some word of the test string and a reference template was done by the DDTW, and the reference string which had the minimum cumulative distance was as output. The experimental results show that our method is obviously superior to all the methods based on DTW, and the recognition rate has reached 90%.

Abstract: According to the requirements, the design principles of web-based learning platform were presented, taking into account teaching and learning. Many instances were introduced to the instructional design. Modular structure was applied to design the system whose model was proposed. The prototype was built by Adobe Flash Professional, a timeline-based, object-oriented authoring tool. User interactivity, loading multimedia files and switching full-screen were achieved by Scripting languages. The result shows that it is informative, user-friendly and suitable for browsing on Internet.

Abstract: In order to meet energy conservation and utilization optimization in urban water supply system and ensure water supply time and efficiency, we adopted the projection pursuit autoregression method to establish the projection pursuit autoregression water consumption forecasting model, combined the projection pursuit technique and time-series autoregression analysis method, and better solved the abnormal and nonlinear problems in urban water consumption. The practice proves that the forecasting precision of this model reaches the engineering requirements, and it provides a new approach for water consumption forecasting and analysis.

Abstract: Due to the unique and lifelong invariance characteristics of the fingerprint, this paper presents a fast fingerprint identification system by FPS200 solid-state fingerprint sensors and TMS320VC5402 DSP chip.In the system, FPS200 completed fingerprint collection, DSP chip to complete the fingerprint image pre processing of data; combined with the characteristics of the two chips, given the system hardware design, software design flow. The results showed that: the system is well designed, low cost, real-time and high reliability, with important practical value and broad application prospects.

Abstract: Unsupervised Discriminant Projection (UDP) is one of the most promising feature extraction methods. However, UDP suffers from the small sample size problem and the optimal basis vectors obtained by the UDP are nonorthogonal. In this paper, we present a new method called Two-dimensional Orthogonal Unsupervised Discriminant Projection (2DOUDP), which is not necessary to convert the image matrix into high-dimensional image vector and does not suffer the small sample size problem. To further improve the recognition performance, the orthogonal projection matrix obtained based on Gram–Schmidt orthogonalization is given. Experimental results on ORL database indicate that the proposed 2DOUDP method achieves better recognition rate than the UDP method and some other orthogonal feature extraction algorithms.

Abstract: In recent years, the global community has experienced economic difficulties, such as the 2008 financial crisis and the ongoing European debt crisis. Consequently, currency values have fluctuated significantly over short periods of time, which increases the difficulty of survival and fear of businesses that rely on import and export trade. Failure to properly and appropriately address the operational risks of exchange rate fluctuations can reduce corporate profit and even lead to operational losses. However, financial markets provide numerous methods for corporations to hedge the risks of exchange rate fluctuations. Nevertheless, a model for predicting exchange rate fluctuations can enable business owners to make more appropriate judgments. This study employs a multilayer perceptions (MLP) neural network with genetic algorithm (GA) to predict the New Taiwan dollar (NTD)/U.S. dollar (USD) exchange rate. The GA is used to determine the optimum number of input and hidden nodes for a feedforward neural network, the optimum slope of the activation function, and the optimum learning rates and momentum coefficients. The empirical results show that the ability of the proposed model to predict the NTD/USD exchange rate is excellent. The absolute relative error between the predicted value and the actual value was 0.2948%, and the correlation coefficient was 0.994802.

Abstract: Domain decomposition method for solving the discrete problem of the second kind of variational inequality is considered. The variational inequality is reformulated as an equivalent optimization problem. Then the overlapping domain decomposition method is proposed. The convergence of the methods is obtained.

Abstract: Oracle as an aesthetic element in the Chinese cultural system, it contains double genes of abstract characters and concrete graphics. According to oracle, we can understand ancient's life style and mental state more intuitive. It gives modern graphic design some inspirations: speaking in graphics, there is no more redundant characters to explain. Moreover, combining the characters and graphics of tradition and design concept is a trend of modern design development, only the national art can last permanent. Therefore, to comprehensive and profound understand oracle's plastic arts, thinking mode and explanation meaning have a far-reaching influence on modern graphic design.

Abstract: In the traditional acoustic vector data processing, the output of a single vector hydrophone is modeled as a complex vector, which cannot hold the orthogonal structure of the hydrophone. Here, the complex-quaternion model of the vector hydrophone is proposed. The velocity elements are put in the position of the three imaginary parts, which retains the orthogonality of the velocity sensors. As the non-stationary properties of the surface vessel’s radiated signals, the received data are divided into multiple frames. The covariance matrices and their vectorizations of each frame are calculated. An orthogonal projection is employed to eliminate the background noises. Then the noise-free covariance matrix is used to estimate the DOA’s of the sources by taking use of MUSIC algorithm. The simulations verify the good performance of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract: Sea surface wind field is a basic parameter of marine dynamic process, Catastrophic Sea-state such as marine tropical storm and storm surge are all driven by marine wind, wave monitoring and prediction also need sea surface wind field. By combining the new generation of weather research and prediction model (WRF) and the third generation wave model (WAVEWATCHⅢ), establish an Atmospheric-Wave numerical prediction system. Developing sea surface wind field numerical forecast in East China Sea, it makes up the shortage of wind field data’s absence. By using the numerical prediction results, the wave model will provide accurate and reliable wave forecast products for Chinese shipping, ocean activities and military affairs.
