Abstract: It is very important to measure paper fiber density and equivalent diameter for pulp suspension as solid-liquid two-phase flow in fluid dynamics study. There are some kinds of ways to measure fiber density, but not be suit for pulp fiber density because of their limitations. By using kajaaniFS300 fiber analyzer provided by Mesto ltd company to compare and measure all kinds of fiber length, fiber coarseness, weight average fiber length can more accurately show the actual length of fiber. The results shows that it is apparently more appropriate to calculate fiber density by using fiber coarseness, weight-average fiber length and weight-average fiber width, and fiber equivalent diameter should also be calculated according to the same weight-average fiber length and weight-average fiber width.

Abstract: The Chinese poplar was used as the raw material in this study. Conversational Kraft cooking was carried out. The acid-precipitating method was used to separate the dissolved lignin from the black liquor. The FT-IR spectra was quantitatively analyzed and compared in order to discover the change of lignin structures. The lignin 31P—NMR spectra of pH6 lignin samples was obtained and the functional groups of the lignin was quantitatively analyzed and compared in order to discover the change of lignin structures during Kraft cooking. Syrinl-OH was 50~60 percent, Guaiacyl-OH was 40~50 percent. The pH6 lignin samples of 31P-NMR spectra aliphatic OH was 2.75 m mol/g, COOH was 1.75 m mol/g, total phenolic OH 5.66 m mol/g. The molecular weight distribution curves of lignin samples obtained from gel permeation chromatography analysis system was shown that Mw was 1375g/mol, Mn was 2426 g/mol and polydispersity was 4424 g/mol.

Abstract: Tobacco stem and tobacco dust made reconstituted tobacco paper-base with a paper-making method, effect of extracted and refined on tobacco stem and tobacco dust, particular effect of tobacco stem and tobacco dust ratio on physical properties, chemical composition and microstructure of reconstituted tobacco paper-base were studied. The results indicated that the content of water soluble sugars, total alkaloid, chloride, total nitrogen of the extracted tobacco stem and extracted tobacco dust were decreased, content of holocellulose was increased. With decreasing of tobacco stem pulp ratio (increasing of tobacco dust pulp ratio) of reconstituted tobacco paper-base, there was rapid decrease in tensile index, tear index, bulk and air permeability of reconstituted tobacco paper-base. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that tobacco dust ratio more than 30%, bulk of reconstituted tobacco paper-base decreased significantly. Content of water soluble sugar, total alkaloid, chloride and total nitrogen of tobacco reconstituted paper-base decreasing significantly after paper-making.

Abstract: A series of starch-based styrene acrylate emulsion (SAE) modified with water-resistance agent were prepared by introducing rosin, organosilane(γ-amino propyl triethoxysilane (KH550), γ-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-propytrimethoxysilane(KH560) and γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane (KH570) as the functional monomer, respectively. In the reaction, starch(CS-8), which is low relative viscosity, was used as the emulsifier and dispersant. The optimum conditions of the reaction had especially been studied by orthogonal experiment and then the emulsion properties and surface sizing behaviors of the SAE modified with different kinds of water-resistance agents were compared. Finally, the products which had excellent properties were characterized and the sizing performance was investigated. The results showed that the excellent performance and good sizing effects of styrene acrylate emulsion (SAE) were achieved when the reaction conditions were as follows: rosin was selected as the water resistance-agent with the dosage of 2%(wt), the reaction temperature was 88°C, the mass ratio of St and BA was 9:11, the stirring speed was 130 round per minute and the dosage of initiator (APS), cationic monomer (DM) and CS-8 was 0.5%, 2%(wt) and 7%, respectively. The water-resistance properties of starch-based SAE were significantly improved by using rosin as the water-resistance agent and the surface sizing performance were better than that of the commercial AKD.

Abstract: The effect of Diethylene Triamine Penta Methylene Phosphonic Acid in bamboo kraft cooking was studied. The results show that the bamboo pulp properties are optimal when DTPMPA dosage is 0.4%. The optimal properties are as follows: the kappa number is 16.4, brightness is 37.8%, and the screened yield is 41.9%.

Abstract: In this work, light aging resistant PBO fiber containing light stabilizer (OB-1) was prepared via in-situ polymerization and dry-jet wet-spinning process. The mechanical properties of the fibers under sunlight radiation were investigated by tensile testing. PBO fiber is sensitive to both UV light and sunlight, and undergoes severe degradation under light exposure. After exposed to sunlight and sunlight sealed from humidity for 318h the strength retention is only 25.39% and 33.08%, respectively. The light stability of PBO can be enhanced with only a small amount (0.05-0.2%) of addition of OB-1. Under the same conditions the strength retention of 0.2%OB-1/PBO fiber is 55.52% and 64.84%, which is 119% and 96% higher than that of PBO fiber.

Abstract: In this study, the high density 900kg/m3 biodegradable cellulose fiber composites have been successfully manufacture from treated cellulose fiber by wet-hot pressure technology. The cellulose fiber was treated with cationic guar gum(CGG) by the process of adsorption. It was found that the composite made from treated cellulose fibers have better mechanical properties such as the tensile properties and stiffness. Chemical groups of samples were studied through the use of FTIR spectroscopy.

Abstract: Akund fiber, as one kind of natural cellulosic fibers, is light, lustrous, biodegradable and environment-friendly. It has a hollow body and a seal tail, which are desirable features of candidates for functional textiles of this nature. The thin wall of lumen and the low crystallinity lead to the lower strength and elongation than cotton fibers. Individual akund fiber is cylindrical without convolution and curls. The outer surface of the fiber is smooth, causing poor inter-fiber cohesion. Therefore, akund blended yarns have some problems, such as the low strength, much hairness, poor abrasion resistance. All of these will cause difficulities for weaving. A series of sizing experiments of the blended yarns was carried out and the sizing properties was discussed in the paper to solve the problems

Abstract: Sepiolite has good adsorptivity due to their high surface area and structural channels. During the process of making aluminium silicate fiber paper, inorganic binders retaintion was little because of the smooth surface of aluminium silicate fibers. In this study, sepiolite was used to improve tensile strength of the sheet by increasing inorganic binders retaintion rate through its high adsorptivity. The effect of sepiolite on the tensile strength of alimunium silicate fiber paper was investigated. The results showed that the best mass ratio of aluminium silicate fibers to spiolite was 7:3. Under this condition, the tensile strength of the sheet was 4.79 N•m/g, which increased by 24.2% from the one without sepiolite.
