Research and Implementation of Variant Design for Longitudinal Roadheader’s Cutting Unit

Abstract:

To support rapid design of longitudinal roadheader’s cutting unit better, an approach for product variant design based on parametric modeling was presented. According to the function and structure of longitudinal roadheader’s cutting unit, this paper partitioned the function modules of cutting unit and analyzed its parametric models by using theory and key technologies of variant design method. On the basis of the existing 3D models, variant design of geometry shape features, main parts and assemblies of longitudinal roadheader’s cutting unit had implemented through re-development on Computer-Aided Design platform. It proves that the variant design method can accelerate product design process, reduce costs for product design and ensure the quality of product design. And the instantiation could be as a reference of similar product’s rapid design.
